| When I checked the list of the books that visitors have bought
from the Telesterion Bookstore I was struck by the quality of the choices. My guests,
you have bought a very interesting selection of books. I thought that you might be
interested in seeing these selections also; interested to know what your peers are
reading. These books aren't in any particular
order, but I've tried to mark books that I thought were particularly interesting. These
are among the books purchased in the past 6 months.
Guests, I'd like to ask a favor of you, to get your help in
supporting this site. If you decide to order a book, please make a special point of
clicking directly from the link on my pages to the book you are interested in, then add
the book to your shopping cart, update your shopping cart, and then return to these pages,
select another book that interests you, click on it's link, add it to your shopping cart,
update your shopping cart, then return here etc.etc.etc. ( In order to save on shipping
and handling I like to order several books at a time.)
When you click on a link direct from these pages and place your
order, Telesterion gets 15% of the value of the book. When you instead enter Amazon from a
link, then move around in Amazon to find your books, Telesterion only makes 5% or less on
your purchases. You may not have known this but that is how an Amazon book store works.
We are not talking about large amounts of money here. No-one
will get rich running a bookstore like this. However, I'm glad to report to you that the
percentage off of the books you my guests have ordered here these first 6 months of 2000
have covered the server costs of hosting this site. This means I'm performing enough of a
useful service here to continue to justify Telesterion's existence, and needless to say,
it is an encouragement to me to produce more material for your study and enjoyment.
But please, if you think of it and feel kindly towards this
site, if you do order any books order them directly from the links on these pages.
Now, without further ado, enjoy this list of visitor selected
books. there's some great stuff here. Ken Wilber, Francis Yates, Franz Bardon, Joseph
Campbell, Paul Foster Case, Jean Houston, Stanislav Grof, Ouspensky, Merrell-Wolff, Carl
Rogers-- there is some fine reading here!
Excellent!

Jean
Houston is a smart explorer. This isn't her best, but is very useful for those who are
interested in exercises but don't want to get stuck in a traditional form of practice.
Mind
Games : The Guide to Inner Space (PB) |
|
|

This is
Pearce's best book imho, in terms of the validity and usefulness of his arguments. How we
were imprinted as infants still profoundly effects our current relationship with reality.
Magical
Child (PB) |

While a
bit turgid, this book is one of the best manuals for western magickal style 'spiritual
exercises'. If you attempt the exercises here (I have) you will be surprised at how
strongly they effect your mind.
Initiation
into Hermetics : The Path of the True Adept (HB) |
|
|

|
| 100 Allegories
to Represent the World (PB) |

The
Cat Who Cried for Help : Attitudes, Emotions, and the Psychology of Cats (PB)

Excellent,
not the easiest read, but a very important set of suggestions about subjectiveity and
objectivity.
Collected
Works of Ken Wilber : The Marriage of Sense and Soul, One Taste (HB)

Very
personal, raises very good questions about the psychological and spiritual integrity of
our current E/S/R/P culture.
