| How does qabalah increase intelligence? I think it works by
providing a more effective "associative" grid for the display and storage of
thoughts and memories. --------------------------- The clumps tend to organize themselves based on visual cues
or image cues. An example of this occurs when we ask ourselves "Where the hell did I
put my keys?". How do we try to remember? We visualize places where we might have put
the keys, and 'search mentally' around that visual cue for a memory of wether or not we
have in fact recently put our keys there. A certain type of qabalah exercise or study creates in our imagination a new 'grid' of visual spaces/images. After a few weeks or month's of such practices a new type of memory and thinking function starts to become habitual. In many ways this is similar to what happens when we, as children, memorize the alphabet and numbers. Suddenly, we can think and read and navigate the world in a whole new way. The intelligence increase effect I'm suggesting has nothing to do with the philosophy which traditionally accompanies the qabalah. Well, almost nothing. I think any time you are introduced to a new, whole, coherent philosophy that your mind is expanded somewhat. It is inherently mentally stimulating to try thinking about the world in a different way. And, I wouldn't dispute that the people who invented the stories and religious philosophy and metaphysics of the qabalah (some parts are probably as old as any of the oldest western materials, maximum 4000bc minimum 600bc) , and the people who wrote it down first, (1200ad to 1600ad) were some cool and interesting characters with some good things to say. I certainly feel that I have been personally enriched by reading and thinking about the traditional teachings. However, this planet is full of philosophies, and there are a dozen teachings at least as good or better than traditional qabalah philiosophy. So, it's not about the philosophy... It's not about the philosophy. It's about using your brain in a different way, that, like the use of language, increases intelligence.
That's it for this short presentation. |
